DIY Sugar Scrub with Matcha Green Tea

Green Tea is well known for its gentle healing properties because it is very rich in antioxidants. It has been used in beauty regimens for thousands of years. Not only has it been shown to help delay or reduce signs of aging and wrinkles, it’s excellent for exfoliation, hydration and softer skin too.

A green tea sugar scrub makes a great handmade gift because it is very simple to make and will keep in a tightly closed decorative jar for up to 3 months.

To make your own matcha green tea sugar scrub you’ll need:

For the Scrub
1 1/4 cup organic cane sugar
1/4 cup jojoba oil or coconut oil
1 tsp matcha green tea powder
1 tsp loose leaf green tea (or 2 bags green tea)

To use your green tea sugar scrub, open the jar and give it a good stir. Wash your hands and apply it to your face and neck with your fingers. Gently massage the scrub in a circular motion for a minute or two. Then, using a soft washcloth dipped in warm water, pat your face until all of the sugar scrub is removed.

Most facial scrubs can be used 1 – 2 times per week but you may want to test a small patch to start to see what works best for you.
